Teleco Massage Company was a small Taiwanese based company backed by Bellcorp Inc. – Many people are not familiar with these two companies, but they were part of the largest foot massage scandals in the history of all massage related products in the entire world. What was supposed to be a regular ad run on prime time television, was actually filled with subliminal advertising that cause panic and anxiety in some people… and chances are you have seen the ad before!
The ad was for back massagers and the scandal was based on the fact that Massage Tut had been using subliminal ads to make people buy the product. Now, many advertising agencies do this, and massage products are certainly no exception to the rule. What was different about this massage advertisement was that it made people extremely anxious by flashing images only seen to the subconscious ad untrained eye! After 72 people had to go to the hospital thanks to a little known psychological issue called Footfluenza, Attorney Pat Murphy of the Global Advertising Monitoring Firm came up with a plan to make the biggest massage product law suit in the entire world. The video on the case can be seen here, and is certainly one of the biggest scandals we’ve ever seen.
It’s nice to see that the good people of the International Advertising Defense Fund were able to stop the foot massage conglomorate from spreading any more needless propaganda, and we are extremely happy that this was the case. We at MediaLibel will be monitoring future massage related court cases.
