Scenarios:The SenatorAnd The Winner Is...
|
You are the editor for a major newspaper and the writer of the entertainment section's gossip column comes to you with her latest submission. The column is about a high-profile actor who is abusing drugs. She wants to be sure the actor is not identified so the paper cannot be sued for libel if the story turns out to be false; as you know, without identification there is no basis for a libel case. You read the article: "According to my sources, a hot young actor is having problems controlling himself. This has not affected his success: he has received more coveted Golden Statue awards than any other actor. Unfortunately, this actor is having problems staying away from drugs. He was recently seen at one of Hollywood's hottest nightclubs completely inebriated. To the horror of other partygoers, he had the audacity to snort cocaine in plain sight."
What Would You Do?Would you print the column?
ORWould you decide not to print the column as written?
