The Unwed Father

You do not name the father in the story, but still use the information gained from your interview.

You do not name the father in the story, but still use the information gained from your interview.

You do not use his name and are still able to use his case as a credible example. If you had used the father's name you would have opened yourself to a possible libel suit. The father was not a public figure, and events happening in his life had no public interest, so this would be a case of defamation of character and invasion of privacy. This point may have been argued in a court, but since the article works without the father's name, there is no good reason to risk a possible suit.
